14- Day
death march
poland to germany
After Jack was in Birkenau he was ordered to march to his next destination in the harsh cold winter with only one piece of bread and only wearing wooden shoes with no socks and their striped uniforms. Jack had seen a puddle of water on the ground and bent down to take a sip as well as some of the other prisoners. They were somewhat lucky to have been marching in the winter for one reason. The snow many prisoners ate the snow to help save their bread because they didn't know how long they would be marching for. Those who could not keep up to the pace of the guards were beaten often to death and they were then kicked off to the side and left there.
